What do you do when you find yourself getting “down in the dumps”? You can take some sort of positive action that will help you recharge your emotional batteries.
Do something different—perhaps something you have been putting off for a long time that you would like to do. Visit a friend or go away for a mini-vacation, even if for only a couple of days. Eat out at a new restaurant that sounds exciting. Talk to an enthusiastic, positive person. Spend some time talking with a successful person who is excited about what he or she is doing.
Get some exercise. A sluggish, inactive, oxygen-starved body needs exercise in the fresh air. Even if you don’t feel like it, get out and socialize. Friendly contact with others helps to take our attention from ourselves and has a positive emotional effect. Make an extra effort to be friendly. Read some inspirational literature. Reading uplifting, positive materials and seeking to apply the ideas in your life will raise your spirits.
You can break out of “down in the dumps” feelings if you will take some positive actions.
When you need guidance, where do you turn? When you have a decision to make, where do you look? To make a right decision, take time to seek spiritual direction.
If you want true guidance, remember that within you is the Spirit of Truth that will direct you in all your ways. Although people, books, and other sources may help you get new insight and understanding, you must place your dependence upon that deep, inner sense of rightness that abides within.
In times of doubt or indecision, quiet your thoughts and emotions. Be still and declare that you are open and receptive to inspiration from the Spirit of God. As you listen deep within your being, you will be filled with new inspiration that will enable you to make right decisions.
Some days we may feel rushed and under pressure. We may wonder how we will do all that needs to be done. At such times it is important to become calm and know that God’s strength is our strength, God’s peace is our peace, God’s wisdom is our wisdom.
As we establish ourselves in Spirit at the start of each day, allowing God to work through us, we begin to do things in an orderly way. We do not waste time or energy. We work steadily and confidently. Perhaps we are shown that some things are unimportant in the scheme of things and do not need to be done at all. We handle our day’s work easily and cheerfully.
What can you honestly say you are getting out of life? Consider this from the standpoint of both material and spiritual blessings. The truth is, we get out of life what we put into it. To give little is to receive little. If we give generously, we receive abundantly.
If you want the gifts that life is bringing to you to be changed, improved, or increased, put more into life. Lovingly share your thoughts, words, and actions. Give lavishly of your good and you will be preparing the way to receive. There is no limit to the abundance you can add to your life.
Freely bestow your best to life today. Do well whatever you do. Express love, understanding, and good will. Start giving to life, and life will pour its blessings out to you.
Are you holding on to something or someone that is really not your ideal because you fear there is nothing better for you?
We must learn to let go of all that is not for our highest good, knowing that God does have something better for us—otherwise we would not secretly desire it.
Many stick with friends who are not of the highest caliber simply because they feel that they are accepted by them. But until we let go of the lesser we cannot receive the greater. Yes, it does take a measure of courage, to be sure, for we do not want to be lonely or lacking.
To gain confidence in releasing what is not the highest and best for our life, we need a deeper awareness of God. As we feel the presence of God within, we lose our fear of lack and loneliness. We begin to attract to ourselves perfect good in every needed form.
