Your mind is a wonderful tool. You can use it to bring good into your life in the form that you desire, but clarity is essential.
You must think definitely, clearly, and specifically about what you want. Form a clear picture in mind of what you desire. Until you know what it is that you want, the mind has nothing to work on. Just as a blueprint is necessary for the building of a house, so must the same process be followed in using the mind.
Decide what you want to experience. Clarify this within your mind. Then, give thanks that the Creative Intelligence within you is now bringing your good into being. It will! You will experience God’s wonder-working power operating in your mind.
Your will is a gift from God that enables you to select what you will do and what you will be. You can choose the words you speak, the thoughts you think, the work you do or leave undone. You can choose the friends and the hopes you will cultivate and what path you will follow.
Choose early in the morning the course you will pursue during the day. By exercising your God-given gift of will, you can master yourself and your circumstances.
Do you believe in God’s abundant supply—or do you have a poverty-oriented mind? Do you talk about what you don’t have, your many limitations, your bad luck, the hard times you face?
Remember that poverty is an abnormal condition that originates within the mind and heart. The poverty thought—the conviction that one is poor and must remain so in any area of life—is fatal to success.
Most poverty is preventable, and a condition of poverty can always be cured. The causes must be done away with, including wrong thinking based on false beliefs, no sense of direction, and lack of effort. It sometimes appears to be easier to complain about our lot in life than to do something about it.
You have an intimate connection with God. Acknowledge it and act upon it. You can be lifted out of poverty or distressing circumstances if you will “look up” to God’s good. Give thanks for your ever-present supply. Expand your vision and claim all that you need. Place your confidence in God and you will receive your good.
Many of us take life too seriously. We get all uptight about everything and everybody—especially ourselves. The things we get so tense and stirred up about often have no significance a few weeks later, so why bother?
Give things the light touch. Have you noticed that we naturally enjoy the company of those with a good sense of humor? That tells us a great deal, doesn’t it? Good humor can improve a bad situation. It can dissolve tension and anxiety. It often is a peacemaker because those with a good sense of humor are less defensive—they aren’t as likely to become puffed up with their own self-importance.
Use humor as an aid to joyful living. It will help you relate to yourself, to others, and to life. A sense of humor will give you a happier face and a more pleasing personality. With the light touch, based on the knowledge that God is in charge of all that concerns us, you will enjoy a richer, fuller life.
Let us be still and realize these truths: God’s unlimited supply surrounds us now. The fullness of God’s love fills our being. The mighty cleansing power of Jesus Christ is now present, ready to free us from all that would keep us from our good. Our life is beautiful when God is in charge!
In truth, God is always in charge. Otherwise, the universe could not exist for an instant. We are not mere puppets, however, but images of our Creator. We are therefore free to explore and free to choose. Yet how wonderful it is to know the truth that we can choose rightly.
God has a perfect plan for each of us. We can grow into complete fulfillment and experience true and lasting happiness. For this, let us give thanks this day and every day.
