A Better World

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH AND LET IT BEGIN WITHIN MY HEART.

Are you troubled by the events in the world? When all around us we feel confusion and turmoil, we must not be dismayed. We must not be taken in by outer appearances. When the world seems desperately in need, we must retreat to the “secret place of the Most High.” Here we can be led by the still waters and become renewed and refreshed. Here we can unite our feelings with wisdom. Here we can let God speak.

The Bible tells us that in returning and rest we shall be saved. In quietness we place our cares upon God, knowing that God cares about us. In returning to God as our only guide, we will find understanding and strength.

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)

Awaken to Life

I AWAKEN TO LIFE WITH A SENSE OF ADVENTURE AND WONDER.

Your life can be more exciting if you have an open mind and a positive attitude. Life becomes dull when we do everything the way it has always been done.

Learn to change your accustomed pattern. Consider unusual opportunities that come your way. Tackle a project. Take a different route to work. Get out of a rut. Try something new. It can be anything from typing to pencil sketching. Get started and stick with it. Become more versatile by acquiring a new skill each year.

Get acquainted with the things around you. Have you enjoyed all of the local sights that tourists make it a point to see? There are many interesting and fascinating things going on if you will make the effort to look for them with a sense of adventure and wonder. Awaken to life and begin to live!

When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers—the moon and the stars You set in place—what are mere mortals that You should think about them, human beings that You should care for them? Yet You made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. (Psalm 8:3–5)

Cheerful

I AM CHEERFUL FOR GOD IS AT HAND.

Be cheerful today. Remember that God—who is all power, all good, all love—is present in your life. God’s plan for you is abundant good.

Refuse to dwell on negative things. Refuse to discuss anything in a negative light. Instead of giving thought and words to a problem, give attention to the solution. God is in every situation. God is in every person.

God has ways we know not of to help us. God will provide the strength and faith we need to conquer fear, handle our problems, and move us into abundant good.

Be cheerful. Let go of every disturbing thought and emotion. Make yourself a clear, receptive channel through which the power of God flows to adjust and perfect that which concerns you.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

Promises of God

I give thanks that you are ever with me, Lord. Your unlimited power and grace express through me now.

The glorious promises of the Bible are for you, here and now—promises of goodness, forgiveness, health, wisdom, joy, riches and honor, peace and prosperity. What wonderful promises these are!

Realize that God’s Spirit is within you and therefore is an integral part of your life. Through the power within, you are able to overcome all problems and be successful in all ways. God’s life in your body heals and makes whole every cell and function. God’s love harmonizes every relationship. God’s intelligence inspires your thinking and gives you understanding.

Accept the wonderful promises that God has made to you. Bring God into your everyday living, and you will receive power for a greater life experience.

Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand is power and might. It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all. (I Chronicles 29:12)

Practical Faith

I now put my faith to practical use. I ask, confident of receiving my good.

We freely admit that it is a nice thing to have faith in God, but so often we inwardly question just how practical it is. However, faith that is not put to work is of no value.

Put your faith to work in your day-to-day living. Do you have a need? Through faith, look beyond the need to God, the unlimited Source of good for your supply. God will fulfill your every need. Faith knows that God’s supply is certain and that God will fulfill your need if you but ask and accept.

Act in faith. Put your faith to practical use. Declare your faith in God as your help, and prepare to receive the good.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)
