It is astonishing to see what some people do to get others to approve of them. They are afraid to take a definite stand, afraid to say a firm “no” or “yes” when the need arises. They are so concerned about the opinions of others that they sacrifice their integrity and compromise their ideals in an attempt to please them. It does not work, although it may appear to temporarily. By tomorrow something else will required to satisfy the demanding person.
Never compromise your integrity in order to win approval. Realize that God has implanted divine ideals within you. Be true to them. Give no person the power to cause you to deviate from these.
God’s love for you is unchanging and eternal. God’s Spirit in you impels you toward your highest good. You are a radiant child of God. You are a channel through which God expresses into the world. You do not need to please people. Have no concern but to be true to God.
“What do I have to do to be happy?” Almost everyone is asking this question constantly, either consciously or unconsciously. We all want to be happy and this is good, for joy is our natural and true state.
All we need do to experience happiness is to begin to generate happiness within ourselves. We can do this by centering our thoughts on love, peace, harmony, justice, beauty, and thanksgiving. These thoughts will stir up the fire of joy already present within and soon warm our entire being.
Have you ever wondered how a particular person could manage to be cheerful under his or her circumstances? Circumstances have little to do with happiness, it seems. You can be sure that as you radiate happiness and dwell upon good, your circumstances will improve. Try it and see for yourself.
It is not possible to have both light and darkness in the same place. Nor can we hold love and hate in our minds and hearts at the same time. If we would have God’s love fill our being, we must first get rid of wrong beliefs—our feelings of being apart from God and therefore separated from our good.
Fear, hate, and all negative emotions vanish when we turn on the light of understanding who we are. We are heirs of God, who is love. We were created to be expressions of love. If we are untrue to our nature, we must suffer. We must love to survive.
Fish live in water. Trees and plants send roots down into the earth. All of nature adheres to its divine plan for growth and life. We are no exception! We too must follow the divine pattern implanted within us. God is love, and as we express this love we discover that we are heirs to the kingdom.
Establish a new awareness of freedom by turning over every detail of your life to God. Christ in you is your perfect freedom. You are free to express perfect health. All your healing needs are in the care of your Indwelling Christ, who will bring forth wholeness and perfection.
Be free of all unwanted habits. Release all thoughts of weakness or the inability to accomplish your purposes. Christ in you gives you sufficient strength to attain complete and perfect freedom as you go forward step by step.
You are free to possess peace of mind. Through the light of the Christ presence, thoughts of worry, fear, resentment, and insecurity vanish. You are free to establish a new relationship with God through the activity of Christ in you. You are free to be all that God created you to be.
What are you expecting to experience in the next twenty-four hours? An exhausting day? A sleepless night? Problems? Obstacles? The same old routine? Stop and ask yourself what you really are expecting.
If you are directing your thoughts and feelings rightly, then you are expecting to experience an exciting day—a day filled with joy and happiness, a day in which you accomplish the things you would like to do, a day of abundance in every form. What you look for you will find. What you direct your attention to, you will experience.
How important it is for you to set your expectations to the good you desire! By directing your thoughts and feelings toward constructive ends, you open the way for those things to come to you.
Directing your attention to the greater rather than the lesser, to abundance instead of lack and limitation, aligns your thoughts and feelings with God, for the God is absolute good. As we look to God we build a positive expectancy—and as we expect, so shall we experience.
