Emotional Poise

I AM QUIET WITHIN AND WITHOUT. I REST IN GOD AND ALL IS WELL.

Can you remain poised even in a trying situation?

Emotional instability is caused by the thoughts we think. If we have a fear thought, we should simply cast it out of our mind. Too often we encourage worry by thinking upon it, talking about it, mulling it over, picturing all sorts of negative possibilities. The more we indulge in this type of mental behavior, the more our emotional nature gets out of hand.

Take hold of your thought process. Refuse to dwell on what causes turbulence. Think thoughts that are harmonious, peaceful, and good, and your emotions and life will reflect the same.

To still emotions that are disturbing, take a prayer thought and dwell upon it. For example, “I am quiet within and without. I rest in God and all is well.” Speak the words to yourself. Take a deep, relaxing breath. You will feel new ease in your body and a new poise flooding your being. Nothing can disturb your nor rob you of peace and poise.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

Abundant Time

THERE IS ABUNDANT TIME FOR EVERY SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITY IN MY LIFE, FOR GOD’S LAW OF BALANCE AND ORDER IS WITH ME.

Begin this day with the assurance that God is in charge of your affairs and all things are arranged in divine order. There is abundant time for all the activities of this day and of your life.

There is plenty of time for the things you need to do. There is plenty of time for every task to be completed efficiently and well. There is plenty of time for the activities that bring you enjoyment. There is time for rest and renewal. There is time for prayer.

Wherever you are, God is also. Turn your thoughts to God and you will feel the divine presence with you. All that you have to do will be done wisely and well as you let God be a vital part of your life. Affirm that God’s law of order and balance is at work in all your activities. God has given you all the time you need. Use it wisely and well.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Helping Others

God guides me to say the most uplifting word, to take the most helpful action, and to give the perfect gift of love today.

The object of helping others should be to enable them to help themselves.

Do we help friends by always agreeing with them? We can really benefit them more by being objective. Do we help children or adults by doing for them what they need to learn to do for themselves?

We never help by pitying, sympathizing, or humoring. We do the most for others by recognizing the spark of divinity that indwells them—by seeing them in the light of Truth as free, happy, prosperous beings—as children of a benevolent, loving God.

There are times when giving material help is good and necessary, but often it is far better to inspire a person to work rather than offering a handout. Let us not be guilty of insulting our spiritual brothers and sisters. Give others a greater sense of dignity by leading them to the exciting discovery of their own abilities.

Let us pray: “Lord, guide me to say the most uplifting word, to take the most helpful action, and to give the perfect gift of love as I meet others this day. Amen.”

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4)

Joyful Prayer

THANK YOU, GOD, FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF FEELING YOUR JOY IN MY HEART.

Some of us pray only in times of great distress or need. In fact, when things are going reasonably well we may give little attention to spiritual matters.

“You pray in your distress and in your need,” wrote Kahlil Gibran in The Prophet. “Would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.”

Today, offer a prayer of thanksgiving and joy. Let gratitude for your many blessings be expressed in words of praise to the giver of all good—God.

Give thanks for the gift of joy itself that God has placed in your heart. Feel this joy of the Lord in your soul. Count your blessings and you will find that you are already rich. God’s loving presence is ever with you.

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:20)
