Ask

MY PRAYERS ARE simple, direct, and spontaneous. God hears my prayers and answers.

Try practicing simple, direct, and spontaneous prayer. Whenever you are faced with a need, pray right then and there. Let it freely rise from your heartfelt need of the moment.

Do you attempt to determine whether the matter is too hard for God to handle before you pray? We are told to ask in order to receive. Do you ask God for what you want?

Ask when you have the need, expecting the prayer to be answered quickly and easily. Don’t wait until outer circumstances seem conducive to prayer. Pray right then and there. For example, if you are faced with potential physical danger, be direct in asking for divine protection. Then act quickly on what God guides you to do.

Instead of trying to express your prayer through the “right” terminology, express the need that is in your heart. You will find a new degree of success in prayer if you will be simple, direct, and spontaneous.

And if we know God listens when we pray, we are sure our prayers have already been answered. (I John 5:15)

Enjoy Life

THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE. I REJOICE AND AM GLAD IN IT.

Some people have a tremendous capacity for enjoying life. We feel exhilarated and uplifted in their presence. These individuals obviously get pleasure from their work and their play, as well as their relationships with others.

You too can enjoy life in a greater way. You need only drop your self-consciousness and your self-centeredness in order to get involved in living.

God has given you today to rejoice and be glad. Each day brings many opportunities for happiness. Be alert to them. Appreciate the wonderful people and wonderful experiences of your day. Enjoy life!

So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 8:15)

Cleansing Power of Love

Thank You, God, for the mighty, cleansing Power of Divine Love THAT frees me from all negation.

Who benefits the most from your forgiveness? Would it surprise you to know that it is you? For whenever we forgive another, we are in truth forgiving ourselves, as well. We would not even accuse another of any wrong if we were not familiar with the very same quality in our own thoughts and feelings.

True forgiveness goes down deep into the heart of the matter. Sometimes we think we have forgiven, but it is only on a surface level. We are able to speak politely, even to act friendly, but inside there is still the sting of bitterness and resentment. This is certainly not going to hurt the other person, but it will eat away at our peace of mind until we cleanse our consciousness completely. We may not even be aware of this hidden resentment, since all seems well on the outer.

Let us ask in prayer for a deep cleansing of our minds and hearts and be done with all mistakes of the past forever—freeing ourselves and truly freeing others.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Matthew 18:21–22)

New Day

I GIVE THANKS FOR THIS NEW AND PERFECT DAY FILLED WITH THE PROMISE OF GOD’S GOODNESS AND LOVE.

We are held back, limited, and restricted in our present-day experiences so long as we hold on to the past. Our past is not in control of our present. Some people seem to enjoy holding on to negative feelings as indicated by their conversation habits regarding disappointments, frustrations, resentments, and problems.

Dwelling on the past makes you ineffective today. You are a different person now, and so are the other people that your feelings center around. Emotional reactions of the past should not be carried over into our present-day experience. Why be dominated by the ignorance of your earlier, more immature days?

Today is the only day you can live, so give your full attention to living well now. Remember that today is the first day of the rest of your life.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

Now Is the Time

Now is the time, Today is the day! I feel a joyous sense of well-being IN THIS MOMENT.

Are you living life to the fullest? We often hear remarks such as, “When I go on vacation, I am going to really enjoy life!” or “When the children are grown up, then I will be free” to do thus and so. Or even, “Someday, I am going to take the time to paint or study or read.”

Now is the time! Now is the only time there is. Take the time to enjoy living. As we learn to appreciate life, we will learn to use our time wisely. We will be surprised to find out there is always plenty of time for that which we need to do and want to do.

Now—this moment—is the time for feeling joy! Now is the time for appreciating life. Now is the time for seeing beauty in all things. Now is the time for giving thanks.

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (II Corinthians 6:2)
