Is your past a stumbling block? Are you presently condemning yourself for something wrong that happened days, months, or years ago? Are you sometimes overwhelmed by remorse or even self-loathing, feeling that you are not entitled to enjoy a good life?
The past is only your memory of the past. Your feelings about those events, be they good or bad, are the expressions of present thinking. The only pain and suffering you experience about the past is of the present moment.
The one thing that needs healing in order that your past may not be a stumbling block is your present thought. Get your thoughts right and your world will change into one of joy and harmony.
Forget the past. Mentally dwell on the good—joy, harmony, love, peace—right now. As you dwell on these things and claim them for yourself and others, a new, meaningful, and exciting life will unfold. The blessings of God will be yours now!
Are you holding someone prisoner? Have you appointed yourself as arresting officer, judge, and jury and convicted someone of making a mistake? It could be your neighbor, your co-worker, a friend, or perhaps someone that you just happened to read about in the news—but it is most likely that you have convicted yourself!
Whenever we put the label of a negative quality upon someone, that quality is what we think of every time we think of that particular person. This is especially true as we think of ourselves! If you have made yourself or another a prisoner, break the chains of bondage. Declare the Truth—that you are free to be whatever you wish to be. Help others to free themselves by never again putting any label upon them except one that states, “You are a child of God.”
Let us hold these freeing words of scripture in our hearts, affirming them over and over again: “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
God is your constant protection. No harm can befall you because God’s loving Spirit is always watching over you. Whether you are at home, on land, in the air, or on the sea, God’s loving presence is with you. Therefore, your perfect safety is assured at all times.
Because God’s guiding intelligence is with you, you use good judgment and make wise decisions. Recognize God’s guiding intelligence and you will not make mistakes.
Live, move, and have your being in the protecting love of God. You will find it everywhere you go. God will look over you and guide you. Know that you are eternally safe and wonderfully secure in the presence of God.
Through meditation and prayer, we open the way for Truth, illumination, and rich ideas to come to us. We do not obtain these in the outer, but always from within. As long as we hurry, scurry, and worry in the outer, trying to reach success, prosperity, and good, we only end up tired, confused, and frustrated.
Every idea that has brought success and prosperity was not found by rushing here and there, but rather by turning inward and inviting the God to become our Partner and Guide.
Realizing the importance and value of meditation and spiritual communion, let us plan it as a vital part of our day. Let us not meditate only when we feel the need or have the time—but let us also put a specific time for meditation and prayer in our daily schedule. In so doing we put into our lives the opportunity for true wealth, radiant health, and supreme happiness.
How does your morning go? Do you get up grumpy and grouchy, simply dragging yourself around?
Your mood when you awaken sets the tone for your entire day. Bad moods may be caused by (1) getting up late (2) not wishing to face a particular task (3) guilt or anxiety over things we failed to do the day before, or (4) lack of preparation for the day. Now that you know what may be causing your bad morning moods, it’s time to do something to correct the situation—provided you have such a problem.
Your morning mood can influence the decisions you make. It determines your response to others and affects nearly everything you are involved in.
Learn to create a pleasant morning mood. Get up a little earlier so that you have plenty of time and don’t have to rush and hurry. Pre-program your mind to look only upon pleasant experiences that bring you happiness. Train yourself to realize that through the activity of God in you, all things will work out harmoniously and orderly. Plan to overcome any difficulties.
Start your day the way you would like for it to be all day long, and remember, “This is the day that the Lord has made.” You can rejoice and be glad in it!
