The Joy of Work

I GIVE THANKS FOR MY PERPETUAL ENTHUSIASM. I HAVE FAITH TO DO THOSE THINGS THAT OUGHT TO BE DONE BY ME.

To be enthusiastic—to enjoy the tasks life presents to you, rather than dragging yourself through them—is the difference between living and merely existing.

Many of our great creative workers devoted long hours to their jobs, yet they were not driving themselves in the exhausting, negative way that people today often do. Edison worked eighteen to twenty hours a day. He was so absorbed and fascinated with his projects that they weren’t work to him. Through this steadfast power of effort, coupled with enthusiasm, Edison changed the world for the better.

Your day, your work, and your world will be changed and made new as you put intense interest and enthusiasm into what you are doing.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands. (Psalm 90:17)

Seek and Find

I AM GRATEFUL FOR MY ABILITY TO BREAK THE PATTERN OF LOOKING FOR NEGATIVE THINGS. I LOOK TO GOD AND RECEIVE MY GOOD.

“Seek and you shall find.” These words state a spiritual Truth. What we look for in life we find, good or bad. To look for problems is to find them. We discover the things in life we are the most interested in and of which we are the most conscious.

If you have a tendency to be interested in the faults of people, if you find yourself thinking and talking about their problems, shortcomings, and failings, then you are on the road to experiencing the same. You will find what you are seeking.

As you go in the direction you are looking, so do you find what you seek. Look for the good in people. Look for harmony, goodness, peace, and love. By so doing you are looking for God. Did Jesus not say, “But seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”?

In paths that they have not known I will guide them. (Isaiah 42:16)

Radiance

I rejoice and give thanks for the marvelous understanding that God is expressing HIS radiance and life through me.

The radiant Spirit of God is the source of your being. The beautiful, vital, all-loving Spirit of God is expressing in you as radiance and light moment by moment.

You are growing more enthusiastic, stronger, and happier—more radiantly alive each day. Youthful, adventuresome ideas—exciting, loving emotions—and strengthening, renewing currents of life invigorate your body temple.

You are the ever-renewing, ever-unfolding expression of God. Think like it. Feel like it. Speak like it. Act like it. Express the infinite life of God in all that you do.

Those who look to him are radiant. (Psalm 34:5)

Cleansing Power

I NOW RECEIVE THE CLEANSING POWER OF DIVINE LOVE, AND I AM RENEWED AND REFRESHED.

If we spill a glass of milk, we may be disturbed for a few moments. We may blame ourselves for being so clumsy, or we may even try to blame another for causing us to have the accident. But most of the time we mop it up and it is soon forgotten. We would become concerned if we saw someone actually “crying over spilled milk,” wouldn’t we? If one continued the self-blame and wailed endlessly about this misfortune, pointing to the spot even after it had long been cleaned up, we would soon become impatient, to say the least.

Yet we permit ourselves to act in much the same manner at times. We may keep looking at the failure of some project and inwardly cry bitterly for years or even for a lifetime. We may continue pointing at the spot of the spill—which could be a place of unhappiness for us in the past. At times we blame others for our accidents—for our spills and misfortunes. Let us realize how ridiculous this is also! The power of prayer can wipe away the condition and cleanse the memory of it from our minds forever.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:8)

Be Original

Like Jesus, I dare to be different! I am transformed by the renewing of my mind.

Are you afraid to be different? Do you copy the behavior of others, the customs of others, the thoughts of others? We are told in the Scriptures that we should not conform to the world, but rather be a new and a different person by renewing our mind.

Yes, it is easy to conform. It is harder to be different—to think fresh new thoughts of our own. How exciting life becomes when we do cease to conform and begin to see life in a new light. When others say, “It can’t be done,” how wonderful to know that it can! When others say, “What would the neighbors say?” how free we are if we can only be concerned with what God reveals to us.

Jesus dared to be different. He startled the people of His day. He was criticized by the masses, but it did not matter to Him, for He was standing on a solid foundation. It is not important to be different just for the sake of being different, but if standing for Truth at all times makes you different—know that you too are standing on the solid rock foundation.

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)
