Picturing Power

Picturing Power

What is it you desire? A new job? A healthier body? Greater peace of mind? Happier relationships? Are you seeking greater prosperity, more success? Do you long to do and to be what you feel good about inside?

The right use of your imagination will help you bring forth the good you desire—whatever it is.

Accept a picture of yourself, in your mind, as a free, radiant, vital, illumined, successful, happy child of God. Create an image of a healthier you—a body aglow with the life of God and a keen, alert, perceptive mind. Picture yourself involved in right, meaningful, happy relationships. Imagine yourself experiencing great success in all phases of your work. See yourself as free to do and be what God intends you to do and be.

Use your God-given faculty of imagination in a constructive way and you will be blessed with the fulfillment of your desires.

Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. (Ecclesiastes 2:10)

Balance

Divine Wisdom keeps me in perfect balance, preparing me to be a channel for good in my world.

Balance is necessary for perfection. The universe operates in perfect balance—in divine order. We must have physical balance in order to swim, ski, skate, or even to walk. When we fall, what is it we so often say? “Oops, I lost my balance!”

How important it is for our spiritual life to be well balanced, if we would be channels for good. We “lose our balance” when we spend all of our time in prayer and meditation, and neglect to do God’s work. On the other hand, we can get caught up in a round of good works and not take the quiet time that our souls need. The work will soon suffer if we continue in this way.

Jesus gave us a perfect example to follow, for He often went apart for communion with the Father, and then returned to do the Father’s work.

And He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a little while.” For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. (Mark 6:31)

Revitalize

THROUGH PRAYER I REVITALIZE AND RECHARGE ALL THE FORCES OF MY BEING.

If you feel tired or tense it may be that you are scattering the forces of your being in surface living—not taking the time to renew yourself in quietness and prayer. Learn to be still and let go of any feelings of pressure or tension that have built up in you. Practice turning your thoughts to God.

Close your eyes. Relax your thoughts. Let your body become relaxed and open your mind to God. Say to yourself, “God is here. God is blessing my mind with wisdom, keenness, and alertness. God is filling my body with dynamic life. God is harmonizing my life with love. God directs me in all that I do.”

As you get still, tune out the outer world, and give your attention to these ideas, you will notice a difference. You will be strengthened. You will carry forward into your activities a feeling of refreshment and renewal.

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind. (Ephesians 4:23)

Declare the Truth

I KNOW AND DECLARE THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH NOW SETS ME FREE.

Are you holding someone prisoner? Have you appointed yourself arresting officer, judge, and jury and convicted someone of making a mistake? It could be your neighbor, your co-worker, a friend, or perhaps someone you just happened see in the news. But it is most likely that you have convicted yourself.

Whenever we put a negative label on someone, this quality comes to mind every time we think of that person. This is especially true as we think of ourselves. If you have made yourself or another a prisoner, break the chains of bondage. Declare the Truth that you are free to be whatever you wish to be. Help others free themselves by never again putting a label upon them—except one that declares, “You are a child of God.”

Let us hold these freeing words of scripture in our hearts, affirming them over and over again: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. (John 17:17)

Courage

THANK YOU, GOD, FOR THE COURAGE TO FACE ALL THINGS WITH CONFIDENCE. I TRUST IN YOUR PLAN FOR ME!

Children may cover their eyes to keep from seeing something frightening they cannot cope with. Adults often do the same, though perhaps in a different manner. They may “overlook” things, preferring not to get involved. Or they may look with spiritually cloudy eyes, seeing difficulties where none exist. The immature adult, like the child, has a hard time facing the truth and coping with it.

No matter what our chronological age, we can be beautifully mature in our spiritual life. Spiritual maturity gives us insight. We do not have to close our eyes to any situation, for we can meet anything face-to-face. As the Psalmist says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” so what is there to fear? What can shake our faith—our confidence—when we stand firm in Truth?

We grow in spiritual maturity as we learn to face all things. Sometimes we need to take action. At other times we simply need clarity and understanding. Only by facing seeming difficulties can we set them aright or remove them from our experiences forever. All that comes to you is for your growth and eventual good.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
