One of the many ideas that seem to exert control over us is the belief in age. We build a negative expectancy in the waning powers of both the mind and body. We even use age as an excuse for not doing things we should be doing, both physically and mentally. In our words we often indicate that we think we’re supposed to be going downhill. Naturally, when we build a strong belief of this nature, we find that our body responds.
Be on guard. Stop going along with the thought that you are too old to enjoy life, to have good health, to do the things you would like to do. Stop using the belief in age as a way of retreat from life.
Rise out of lethargy, out of feelings of decline and uselessness, and begin to live. You have the gift of God’s ageless, deathless eternal Spirit. Act like it!
How many minutes or even hours of the day do you spend in waiting? We wait our turn in traffic, we often wait for appointments, we wait to be helped in stores. Most of us do spend a great deal of time in waiting.
Perhaps this is when an idea of great value can come to us. Are we receptive to good during our periods of waiting, or are we guilty of griping, restlessness, and boredom? We can change our so-called dull moments of delay into golden moments of receiving our good.
Turn to God, the Source of all good, during these waiting moments. Let divine love flow through you to vitalize every cell of your body temple. Give thanks and deliberately look for the good about you. Soon, you may even begin to look forward to those times of just waiting! You will have changed them into moments of inspiration from which you reap rich rewards.
