“Well, that’s life!” This is a phrase often employed in situations in which there has been failure or loss of some kind. What a limiting statement this is!
True, our life experiences include ups and downs, but why do we single out the disappointments and sigh with quiet desperation, “That’s just the way life is”? Do not build a false belief about life by careless use of a common phrase. Why not use the word life with all the respect and love and praise that you have for God?
When you see robins in the spring, say, “That’s life!” When fragile blades of grass burst through a tiny crack in the sidewalk, say, “That’s life!” When you receive unexpected good news, say, “That’s life!” When you see a child or a puppy or a flower or a garden, say, “That’s life!”
The more you look for evidence of life, the more you will see, and the more you will be conscious of that Life within you. There is only One Life, and that is God. Everything that has life is an expression of God. Seek a higher understanding of what life really is, and stir up this Gift of Life within you.
The clothing we wear not only protects our bodies, but also often serves as a means of identification. We recognize many occupations by uniforms and specific articles of clothing. Pieces of jewelry identify social, fraternal, and religious organizations, and even one’s marital status. Actually, we can tell a lot about people by their outer appearance, can’t we?
Can we also identity those who are aware of their true spiritual nature? There is no special uniform; there is no piece of jewelry to set them apart. But if you look carefully, you can recognize those who are spiritually awake and aware. There is a glow about them. There is an inner joy that seems to overflow. They have a zest for living and a deep sense of peace surrounding them. There is a confidence about the spiritually aware, making us feel that even what the world considers disastrous would not destroy them.
There is a special kind of beauty surrounding the men, women, and children who know they are one with the Father. Let us all be still and know.
