What is happiness? One person’s concept may be quite different from another’s. To some the greatest happiness comes by sharing a special talent with the world. Others may find happiness in communing with the beauty of nature, in friendships, in being with people, or in being alone.
Actually, happiness is the by-product of knowing and feeling the presence of God. In whatever activity we are momently involved, we are happy if it reveals God’s presence more clearly to us.
This explains the mystery of why many people are truly happy, yet do not seem to have what the world thinks is necessary for happiness. This also explains why others, while possessing that which the world believes should bring happiness, are nevertheless miserable.
God is the source of all good. When we dwell in the conscious awareness of God’s presence, we will know happiness.
If you do not expect some good in every day, if you do not greet each morning with enthusiasm and expectancy, then you are not truly enjoying the life God has given you.
What is the remedy for a dull, sluggish attitude? Start by getting a clear mental picture of your desires. What would you most like to do? What would make you jump out of bed in the morning in eager anticipation? Whatever it is—do it!
No matter how small, taking the first step can inspire you to continue working on your dream. Many do nothing because they cannot visualize the end result. Most of the time, our dreams unfold in an orderly manner, growing from a small seed, which we have planted in faith and love. Thus, a flowerbox in a window becomes a prosperous nursery; a page written each day becomes a book; an idea acted upon becomes an invention.
Awaken the God-given dream within yourself, and start it on its way. You will experience joy and satisfaction. You will delight in the dawning of each new day.
