An attitude of gratitude works miracles. Sometimes we think our lives must be in perfect order before we can utter words of praise and thanksgiving. This is not the case.
You can begin now to speak words of praise and thanksgiving to God. Take a moment to recall your day-to-day good, and then add to it the special blessings that have come your way.
Speak words of praise and thanksgiving to your associates. Look for the good and do not hesitate to express appreciation. Be sincere and wholehearted in your praise. You will bring great joy into the lives of others.
Speak words of praise to yourself. This should include recognizing your efforts, as well as the good work of your mind and body.
Charles Fillmore wrote, “You can praise a weak body into strength, a fearful heart into peace and trust, and shattered nerves into poise and harmony.” Prove the truth of this statement for yourself by cultivating the quality of gratitude.
Whatever you have to do today, do it in a relaxed, joyful manner. Go about your tasks with a patient, loving attitude. When you begin to feel rushed, impatient, or irritated, declare to yourself, “I am patient and poised.” Take time to feel composed, poised, and confident.
If you have an important decision to make, ask God for guidance—and wait patiently for the answer. Do not become anxious or upset. God is unfailing. Simply keep your mind open to receive.
Being patient does not mean that you have nothing to do. Whatever is at hand to do, do it well. Whatever you feel you should do, take action. Go about it with poise and love. Who knows how quickly your answer will come when you approach life agreeably and patiently!
